![]() ![]() Disgaea uses big portraits when people are just standing around talking, but switches to sprite-based cut scenes with facesets when there is actually stuff to see, which is a nice attempt to get the best of both worlds, but is also a little jarring. Of course, Fire Emblem can only get away with this because nothing at all ever happens in any of the cut scenes. I do like the big full-body portraits in games like Fire Emblem and Disgaea where they are the entire cut scene. You can of course also scale it down to around 75 and cut out a 144x144 piece to have a faceset graphic instead. Now all that is left is shrinking your bust down to its original design again and exporting it. The character generator is a feature of RPG Maker VX Ace, RPG Maker MV, and RPG Maker MZ. It's probably about 128 x 128, but that's VX Ace, so not VX normal, so you may have to just see how the portraits come out when placed in your project and gauge it from there. Recoloring is exactly the same as for MV, that’s why I recommend to follow this more in depth detail tutorial by me on the forums. I'm super lazy about making the cut scenes fun to watch because I see it as non-vital polish that can be added later, and then that "later" never happens. Create a super size map with this super size asset pack. ![]() I'm not saying I'm good at actually accomplishing these things, mind you. it works the problem is im wanting to hide the bar part of the HP, since im working with a Gameboy asthetic (I.E SaGa) i was hoping to make the HP/MP part numbers only and its slightly visible because till now ive just changed the bar white. And I think that, at least sometimes, facesets in dialogue boxes can kinda interfere with this by taking the player's focus out of the scene and putting it in the dialogue box instead.
